While working for Wardell Armstrong International, Pete Whitbread-Abrutat produced a bespoke community development briefing paper for the corporate and management teams of an AIM-listed gold mining company operating in Liberia, West Africa. The paper related to the particular sensitivities of community development around the poor, rural, tribal communities surrounding the mining project, who relied on basic livelihoods derived from subsistence agriculture and artisanal gold mining. He contributed to discussions on this subject at the corporate level and on the ground.
Pete also advised on the contents of an artisanal and small-scale mining briefing paper and legal/ regulatory framework document for environment and community issues in Liberia to inform operational practices during this early stage mining project.
